THANK YOU June 26th 2013
Many thanks to all those (members and non-members alike) who came along and joined our first pleasure ride on Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many happy, friendly faces – both horses and riders! Special thanks to the landowners who made the ride possible and thanks to the riders for showing respect for the land they rode on.
Please remember all our fabulous volunteers who helped on the day to ensure your safety. Without them we simply could not have staged the event! They reported back that they had enjoyed getting to know you as you went round.
Feedback so far has been extremely positive, making it all worthwhile. Photos will be uploaded asap onto the members photos pages - if you have any please email them in!
Please keep talking to people about our association and encourage riders to join up.
WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO RIDE IN OUR BEAUTIFUL LOCAL COUNTRYSIDE AND PROMOTE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR RIDERS AND HORSES. WE HAVE DEVELOPED A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH NCC BUT THEY DO RESPOND TO NUMBERS , SO MEMBERSHIP REALLY DOES HELP.
Watch this space for our next event. All members will be sent an email to advise of any future events.
Once again , many thanks and we look forward to seeing you again SOON.

THANK YOU NCC RIGHTS OF WAY DEPARTMENT
Following on from our reporting of issues at Bunny Woods via the NCC website , we are delighted to advise you that NCC ( Jane Baines in particular) has acted very swiftly in resolving this matter and that the bridleway is now fully functional and being enjoyed by many of our members once again. If you ride in that area and were put off by the problems please go along and see the improvements for yourself and make the most of it!
Many thanks to all concerned for their support.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE E-PETITION FOR SAFER ROADS
An e-petition has been posted on the LRBA website campaigning for reduced speed limits on rural roads and lanes when passing riders or pedestrians. Speeding vehicles affect us all and cause numerous deaths and injuries to riders, pedestrians and horses annually. The petition is easy to sign up to - simply go to www.bridleways.com and click on the e-petition and follow the instructions.
The Government do take notice of these petitions but this is where NUMBERS REALLY MATTER so please sign up today and enlist the support of family, friends and colleagues to the cause!!

Committee Elected
At the meeting on 26th March the following positions were filled :-
Chair - Marie Hanlon (email [email protected])
Secretary - Jo Cooke
Treasurer - Carol Simey (email [email protected])
Any additional support is welcomed by the above

Contact with Rights of Way Officer
In direct response to the "report a problem" via the NCC website, Jane Baines of NCC contacted Marie to discuss the 4 issues she had reported:-
1. Occupation Lane - this is to be referred on to Leicestershire CC as it falls within their boundary
2. Lings Lane - Jane Baines has agreed to visit this herself and assess the issue
3. Lantern Lane - could any members using this lane please report the specific issues via the NCC website and advise whether or not there are any signs asking off road bikers NOT to use the lane as this seems to be an acknowledged issue??
4. Bunny Woods - Jane is going to contact the wildlife trust to fill in the holes with materials provided by NCC.
Sue also reported an issue with a broken concrete telecoms cover in a grass verge on the Willoughby/Wysall Road and this has already been replaced! THANK YOU NCC
It just shows that the NCC reporting a problem does work - try it for yourselves.

NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY 26th March - Elections for Committee
Do you care about the bridleways in your local area?
Following on from our last meetings and the interest shown in setting up a bridleways group we are holding a further meeting on TUESDAY 26TH MARCH 2013 in the Clubroom at Bunny Hill Riding Stables LE12 6XN at 7.30pm. The main purpose of this meeting is to elect a committee so we can progress the group and make formal contact with the relevant local councils / councillors to highlight your issues.
We have already made contact as individuals with the Rights of Way Officer (using the NCC reporting a problem procedure - so it really does work!!) in relation to the 4 issues highlighted to us and will update you on progress at the meeting.
We desperately need your support to ensure the credibility of the group and urge all members, friends and interested parties to attend. Light refreshments will be available. Please let everyone know about the meeting!
We are proposing a 5-member committee at this stage and welcome applications from any interested parties. Please email [email protected] - closing date 22nd March. For members who cannot attend we will send out voting forms by e-mail prior to the meeting and would appreciate a prompt response no later than Monday 25th March.
Thank you for your continued support.

Results of Meeting
At our last meeting on 22nd January local riders told us they would initially like us to concentrate on improving the surfaces of 4 local bridleways/byways:
Lings Lane, Keyworth
Bunny Woods
Lantern Lane, East Leake
Occupation Lane, Willoughby
If you are a user, or potential user of any of these routes please fill in one of our membership forms. The more people we have signed up, the more weight we will carry with the council and the more likely we are to be successful in getting things done!!
Thank you for your support.
PLEASE GO TO OUR "REPORTING A BRIDLEWAY PROBLEM" PAGE FOR QUICK AND EASY ADVICE ON HOW TO NOTIFY THE COUNCIL OF SUCH ISSUES.

Meeting Tuesday 22nd January 2013
Venue:-
CLUBROOM at
BUNNY HILL RIDING STABLES
BUNNY HILL TOP
LE12 6XN

The October meeting demonstrated the need for local riders to have a united voice, so we have now formed the SOUTH NOTTINGHAMSHIRE BRIDLEWAYS ASSOCIATION (SNBA). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for the local riding community. By increase awareness of the existence of the group, discuss its aims and decide on the way forward. We have a guest speaker from the neighbouring Leicestershire and Rutland Bridleways Association to give us some useful tips and answer questions but we NEED YOUR SUPPORT and INPUT ! So please come along if you can and bring your friends and spread the word.
We look forward to welcoming you on the 22nd and to hear your thoughts.
If you are unable to attend but would like to become a member and be on the mailing list please click on the join us tab, complete the form and click submit.
